September 2, 2010 · Next month, the San Antonio Symphony welcomes Sebastian Lang-Lessing as it's ninth music director, ushering a new era of world-class musical leadership for the organization. Lang-Lessing makes his debut in the Symphony's October 2 opener with a program that includes Gustav Mahler's "Titan."
Internationally-renowned for his work on the concert stage, the German-born Lang-Lessing has led performances with major orchestras across the globe, from Tokyo to France.
As music director of the San Antonio Symphony, Maestro Lang-Lessing will be a major
presence in the community conducting the vast majority of subscription concerts, additional special
performances throughout the year, and leading the Symphony’s education and community outreach
activities.
Lang-Lessing is currently busy preparing for the Symphony's 2010/11 season, but he took some time to talk John Clare about community outreach and his first year in San Antonio.
