The Texas Attorney Generals office has awarded a grant to county programs that help single parent families. More from TPR’s Terry Gildea.
September 1, 2010 · The $59,000 grant will go to the Bexar County Domestic Relations Office and will target programs that encourage co-parenting in homes where both parents may not live together. Janece Rolfe is a spokeswoman for the State Attorney General.
“Our office is involved in child support, but we are not funded to help with visitation disputes. So this is a way that we can help children and families so that parents can successfully co-parent their children whenever the parents live apart,” said Rolfe.
The grant is federally-funded and part of more than $500,000 awarded to domestic programs across Texas, including ones in El Paso, Tarrant, Harris and Travis counties. The recipients were chosen by a group of state family law judges and their decisions were based on each county’s ability to provide a number of different family services. |
